Search Powers of the Police

SEARCH POWERS OF THE POLICE

Under section 26 of the Law Enforcement (Powers and Responsibilities) Act 2002, a Police Officer may request a person who is in a public place to submit to a frisk search if the police officer believes on reasonable grounds that the person has a dangerous implement in his or her custody.

In conducting the search, a Police Officer may request for you to produce anything he/she has detected or seen in which he/she has reasonable grounds to suspect is a dangerous implement.
